Abstract
An outline of the geology of the Dardanelles is presented. Metasediments, chiefly marbles and schists, are cut by a granite and covered unconformably by Tertiary strata which include both sediments and volcanics. The Dardanelles is considered to be a drowned fault valley and in the south an echelon fault system is described.
