Introduction
Library and Information center of the Geological Survey and Mines Bureau is the national focal point for the dissemination of Geology, Mining & Mineral information and provide a different type of service to the community in the country and all over the world. The Mineralogical Survey of Ceylon originally conceive under the colonial rule with the appointment of Dr. Ananda kentish coomaraswami in 1903 develops as present Geological Survey & Mines Bureau. Although library service was not established in the early, but official chad by Denial during 1907-1908. During the Mr. Denial’s period few of the latest books and papers written by eminent scientists on geology & mineralogy have been added to the mineral survey library. Since then it now has a modest collection over 5000 books and about 48 journal title covering the Geology, Petrology, Introduction mineral, Geophysics, Geo chemistry, Analytical chemistry as well as general subject Tent books.
