A critical exposure which shows the field relationships between the shales and limestone blocks is described, from which it is concluded that the limestone blocks were derived from the contemporaneous breaking up of limestone reefs, and the inclusion of such blocks, together with fore-reef breccia, in the adjacent shale deposits.

Abstract
The occurrence of large blocks of fossiliferous Cretaceous limestone among the Lower Cretaceous shales of the Central Range area of Trinidad, B.W.I., has been known for many years, and several different modes of origin have been advanced.
